Planning Your Website

Most people perform the next three website planning activities backwards.....

1. Concentrate on content first. 
2. What functionality do you need?
3. Style and presentation.

Many become caught up in the look and feel of the site and don't take the time to define the content necessary to communicate to those who will visit your site.  I usually have clients begin with at least a menu or site diagram, a tool that will organize and define the content that needs to be developed.  Here is a very basic site diagram.

 

By completing this type of diagram you help define with your developer the scope of the project and the expectations for what information and functionality is desired.
